Calendering
Calendering is a process used to bend and form sheets of metal into curved or cylindrical shapes, carried out with a machine called a calender.
The calender consists of a series of rollers, usually three or more, that can be adjusted to apply the pressure necessary to deform the metal to the desired shape. Metal is fed through the machine, and the rollers are adjusted to apply pressure gradually along the length of the workpiece.
Calendering is used in a variety of applications, such as the production of pipes, tanks, drums, and other curved metal structures. It is an important process in metalwork manufacturing because it allows complex shapes to be obtained with precision and consistency.
